INSPIRED Returns to Higher Peaks

UK loudspeaker innovator Inspired Audio has announced a major restructuring of its operations in both the UK and Asia Pacific. As part of the restructure co-founder Chris Scott has returned to the company that he departed from in late 2017. In addition to concentrating on product development, the managing director and sole shareholder is currently establishing a production facility. “My roots have always been in the design and manufacturing side,” comments Scott. “As I have been building for Inspired and designing the latest products for them, I hadn’t really left.”

“As a U.K. based manufacturer, we will continue to design compact, lightweight, premium quality loudspeakers and amplifiers that seamlessly integrate together to deliver crystal clear and detailed audio,” comments owner Chris Scott. The audio designer has chalked up over 35 years' of experience in the industry, notably developing Logic System brand in the 1990’s. In 2011, Scott followed his belief to create a new British flagship brand. It was time for him to seek fresh inspiration, a clean sheet and a new challenge with other industry professionals. Inspired Audio was born.

Bolstered by new investment, operations have relocated to a new manufacturing unit in Derbyshire that includes assembly, testing and R&D facilities. The comprehensive product range includes, Optima Array, Vector a three-way adaptive array, Axis stage sound, multi-purpose portable MQ range and IQ installation range together with a range of four channel system amplifiers incorporating on board DSP, software control and networking capabilities. “Following on from the three-way Vector 20, I am currently developing a fixed angle variant with a 10° vertical dispersion pattern. A compact, lightweight array of this size is ideal for smaller venues in which a single 10-inch covers the 55 – 200 Hz pass band and the two 5-inch cone drivers are vertically aligned to cover the 200 – 2 kHz pass band. HF is covered by dual compression drivers loaded into our inhouse Vector guide”

The Asian office is a joint venture partnership with Guangzhou based TD Taichee, who now also assume distribution for the brand in China. “This is more than just a distribution partnership - it is a full technical collaboration,” furthers Scott. “In 2019, TD was looking for a European designer to work with them on new product lines. They had a vision that as the Chinese market matures it will move closer to what we know in the European market, so they wanted to prepare themselves for those changes. I was impressed by the scale and quality of the operation, so while the original plan was a deal to design a range for them, I could see the potential for us to work together with the Inspired brand in the region.”

Whilst TD Taichee is promoting Inspired’s catalogue as a premium loudspeaker brand within the Chinese market, Scott is relishing rekindling old relationships throughout the Asian Pacific and Middle East. Having earmarked both the Guangzhou and Frankfurt Pro light + sound exhibitions to announce the latest Inspired initiative, the Covid pandemic forced a change of plan. “I have gained many good friends and business associates throughout these regions, but I am also looking to extend the network as we grow our manufacturing capabilities,” furthers Scott. “We’ve used the three-month period since lockdown to strengthen our manufacturing and R&D initiatives, but now we are raring to go. I really enjoy walking in the local hills as the stunning views continue to inspire me. Therefore, rebooting Inspired seems apt.”
